You may have the best website ever and offer the best product out there, but it will hardly make you any profit if you do not get sufficient amount of traffic to your site. Whereas some deep pocketed companies can afford to spend thousands of dollars on advertisements, buying traffic and links, it is almost definitely out of bounds for an ordinary small-scale entrepreneur.
While bidding for keywords on Google AdWords or some other similar advertising networks is by far the most popular way of marketing your product on the Internet, it might prove expensive and even be an unjustified investment for some low budget entrepreneurs. The following are a few alternative ways to get traffic to their website for free or at a very low cost.
Manual Surf Site Promotion Tools
On a manual surf site you are required to view pages of other members for a specified amount of time (somewhere between 10 to 60 seconds), then respond to a human detection system (such as a easy sum) before moving on to the next site.

In addition, some Article Directoies allow their members to republish your articles and each of these republished articles will also contain a link to your site ( or even our affiliate link if you are marketting someone else’s product) so that backlinks will multiply virally.
Only downside of this process is that initially you need to generate quite a substantial amount of articles to publish in the E-zines and Directories as most of them do not entertain duplicate article.
Free Backlink Exchanging
Exchanging backlinks with sites having similar content is another laborious and passive way of increasing site traffic by enhancing your PageRank. However, be careful that you backlink with legitimate sites and website directories only and not with sites involving black hat or those black listed by Google.
